Interim Minister of Youth
I am the husband of Jennifer and the dad of Zane, Kyle and Silver.
I began in ministry as a teenager when my youth minister recognized God’s call on my life. I began leading worship for the other students in my youth group and then went on to lead worship at camps, retreats and DNows as a high school and college student. During college, my worship and music ministry lead me into opportunities to work with student ministries in local churches and God called me to my first part time youth ministry job. Since that time, God has called my family and me into different student and worship ministries both full time and part time.
Around 15 years ago God called me into the public-school system as a music teacher at the same time FBC Mount Pleasant called my wife to work as the preschool minister, nursery coordinator and KidFirst director. Since then, FBC Mount Pleasant has allowed me to work in the worship ministry and with students. In August of 2019 when our church was in need of a student minister, Jennifer, Zane, Kyle, Silver and I prayed about me filling the role while at the same time continuing to teach. Working with this ministry, this ministry staff and these students these past 9 months has been a blessing for my family.
Students in 2020 desire authenticity and connection; particularly with those charged with teaching, leading, or mentoring them. As a student ministry it is my responsibility to live out my faith; in the mountaintop times and in the times of struggle, in front of our students, while at the same time helping them cultivate an authentic and personal walk with God.
